Is my dentist scamming me?

About this site

Spoiler: probably not. Most dentists recommend treatment because they believe you need it. But a treatment plan full of codes and costs can be hard to judge from the chair, and it's normal to wonder. This site is here to close that gap, so you can understand your plan and your bill, ask good questions, and decide with confidence.

Who writes it

Every page is reviewed by a licensed dentist before it goes live, and pages say so at the top. Drafts are prepared with the help of AI writing tools, then checked, corrected, and approved by the dentist.

Why anonymous?

Staying anonymous lets the dentist speak plainly about how treatment plans, insurance, and bills work, without it affecting patients or colleagues. It also keeps the focus on the information rather than on any one office.

You don't have to take anyone's word for it. Wherever we can, we link to the research and official sources behind what we write, and they're listed at the bottom of each page.

What we are, and aren't

  • We're not against dentists or insurers. Both play a part in your care. We explain how things work so you can ask better questions.
  • We're independent. We're not affiliated with any dental office, insurance company, or dental company, and none of them pays us or reviews what we write.
  • We're not your dentist. We can't examine you, so we can't tell you what you need. See our disclaimer.

Questions and corrections

Real questions from patients shape what we write next. If you have one, or you think something here is wrong or out of date, let us know. We read every message.
